...but you might not know much about the person behind it.

​

Hi, I'm Diane, the founder of Alpha, and dogs have been at the centre of my life for as long as I can remember.

​​

My journey started in a small pet shop and dog grooming parlour, where I fell in love with the sense of community and connection between owners and their dogs.

​

I had my first dog, Max, a Labrador, when I was 15. I think I’ve only been without a dog for about four months since then! It felt like I was missing a part of myself, so that didn’t last long.

​

Since then, I’ve fostered, rehabilitated and provided palliative care for Rottweilers, with more than twenty passing through my door. Every one of them has left their mark and played a part in inspiring Alpha.

​

And then there’s my boy, Soloman, very much the beauty behind Alpha.

​

With three dogs at home, I know how much thought goes into choosing what we give them. And as a vegetarian, I’m particularly conscious of where products come from, how they’re made, and the welfare and sustainability questions behind them.

​

Alpha wasn't created simply because I wanted to sell dog treats. It grew from a lifetime of loving dogs, learning about them, and caring deeply about what we give them.

​

That's why I don't simply pick products because they're popular. I research them. I ask questions. I look at ingredients, sourcing, texture, suitability and digestibility. And if I'm not comfortable with what I know about a product, it doesn't belong at Alpha.

​

Alpha was created to bring together the things I value most:

I'm very proud that Alpha is a small business with big values.

I wanted to create somewhere dog owners could trust.  Somewhere they could come for honest information, carefully chosen products and a little bit of help when they're not sure what their dog needs. I also believe in keeping things fairly priced. Natural and thoughtfully chosen shouldn't automatically mean expensive.

​

And Alpha is only just beginning.

​

As soon as I can, I want to expand beyond natural treats into other carefully chosen products I believe in, including natural shampoos and grooming products, and collars and leads made here in Britain.

​

The aim is to build Alpha into a place where you can find more of the things your dog needs, without losing the values that started it all: natural, responsible, transparent and thoughtfully chosen.
